The Incredible Edible Aquifer

Do we drink water from the Owyhee Dam? Yes! The canals recharge the groundwater and groundwater is pumped to drink. There are 900 to 1000 miles of canals!

To make this delicious, yet educational, dessert you need just a few things.

Follow this recipe and place the items into the cup in the order given.

Edible Treat                                  Corresponding Layer of Earth

Bottom of cup (not edible).........................Bedrock

Ice, Sprite, & blue dye...............................Lower Aquifer

Ice Cream..................................................Confining Layer

Ice..............................................................Upper Aquifer

Chocolate Cookie Crumbs.......................Soil

Green Sprinkles........................................Plant Life

Straws.........................................................Well Casing

Your Mouth................................................Well Pump!!

Remember kids, just like we like having clean treats, its important to avoid contaminating our aquifers!
