Before You Begin

Software

• Palm Desktop, Version 4 or above, Palm, Inc.

This is installed with most new Palm Pilots.
• WinZip

This is a common program for extracting zipped files.

Hardware

• Any Palm Pilot, Palm, Inc.
• An Appropriate Data Cable

Install the Computer Software

1. Download the OSU Water Potential Software from http://www.cropinfo.net/downloads/SoilWater.zip.
2. UnZip SoilWater.zip using WinZip. You may move the folder this creates anywhere on your computer. We suggest placing it under c:\Program Files\.
3. Create a shortcut in your startmenu or on your desktop to OSU.bat. Depending on where you placed the directory, it should be found in c:\Program Files\SoilWater\OSU.bat.

Because this is done differently in different versions of windows, please see the manual that came with Windows or your computer.

Install the Palm Pilot Software

1. On your computer, run the Palm Desktop Install Tool
2. Click on Add...
3. Select all of the .prc files in c:\Program Files\SoilWater\
4. Click on Open. You should now see three programs listed in the Install Tool. Press Done.
5. Connect your Palm Pilot to the computer and press the HotSync button.
