Topics for the 2008 Malheur

Experiment Station Field Day

 

Tour A: Weed Control. Learn about weed control in Roundup Ready® sugar beets,  options for the control of yellow nutsedge, and new herbicides to improve weed control in field corn.  Tour will include simulated Glyphosate drift on potatoes. 

Hosts for this tour are Joel Felix and Joey Ishida.

Tour B: Drip Irrigation, Permanent Drip Irrigation, and Wildflower Seed Production. We will discuss various applications of drip irrigation including the possibilities of “permanent” drip irrigation and wildflower seed production.

Hosts for this tour are Jim Klauzer, Erik Feibert, and Clint Shock.

Tour C: Onion Production. Thrips control including biological control, thrips movement, thrips resistance to insecticides, iris yellow spot virus, onion varieties, irrigation criteria and scheduling, and drip irrigation.

Hosts for this tour are Lynn Jensen, Erik Feibert, Jim Klauzer, Clint Shock, Krishna Mohan, Ashley Saunders

Tour D: Alfalfa and Cereals.  This tour will cover alfalfa hay quality, alfalfa weevil control, Oregon Winter Elite Yield Trial of soft winter wheat, and nutrient value of corn and wheat residues.

Host for this tour is Steve Norberg

Tour E: Control of Yellow Nutsedge

This tour will look at the effects of herbicides, fumigation, and crop rotation on yellow nutsedge control.  The tour will go to a field off of the station.
